Privacy Policy
Effective June 13, 2026
PicNamer ("the app," "we," "us") is a camera app that labels your photos using your voice. We built it to be private by default. This policy explains, in plain language, what the app does and does not do with your information.
The short version
- Your photos and labels stay on your device and in your own photo gallery.
- We do not require an account, and we do not collect or sell your personal information.
- There are no ads and no third-party trackers.
Camera
The app uses your camera to take the photos you choose to take. Photos are saved to your device's gallery, just like your normal camera. We do not upload them anywhere on our own.
Microphone and speech
The app uses your microphone only while you are actively labeling a photo, to turn what you say into the photo's label. Speech is converted to text by your device's built-in speech recognition. PicNamer does not record, store, or transmit your audio.
Optional AI features
If you choose to turn on the AI report feature (a paid, opt-in feature), the specific photos and labels you select are sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) solely to generate descriptions and your report, and the results are returned to you. This happens only when you enable AI and run a report. Your photos are not used to train AI models. If you never enable AI, no photos are ever sent off your device by this feature.
Transfers to your PC or cloud
When you send photos to your PC over Wi-Fi, or share them to your own cloud service (such as Google Drive or Dropbox), the transfer goes directly from your device to that destination of your choosing. PicNamer does not host, store, or keep copies of your photos on our servers. We do not operate photo storage.
Permissions we request
- Camera: to take photos.
- Microphone: to label photos by voice.
- Storage (on older Android versions only): to save photos to your gallery.
Information we collect
PicNamer does not require sign-in and does not collect personal information such as your name, email, contacts, or location. If you email us, we will have whatever you put in that email, used only to reply to you.
Children
PicNamer is a general-purpose tool and is not directed to children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the effective date above.
